Ascomycin is a macrolide immunosuppressant produced by fermentation of Streptomyces tsukubaensis or Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. ascomyceticus.

Physico-Chemical Properties:
White or off-white crystalline powder, mp: 159 °C - 164 ºC; soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform; insoluble in water.
