PTS01: Pentostatin [CAS # 53910-25-1]

Pentostatin is an adenosine deaminase inhibitor, originally isolated from fermentation broth of Streptomyces antibioticus, and used as active pharmaceutical ingredient for treatment of cancer.

Pentostatin is white crystalline powder (recrystallized from methanol/water), mp 220-225 DC; UV max at 282 nm (water, pH 7, e 8000) or 283 nm (pH 11, e 7970) or 273 nm (pH 2, e 7570); [a]D25 +76.4 degree (c = 1 in water) and [a]D23 +73.0 degree (c = 1, pH 7 buffer); pKa 5.2 in water.
