TCL01: Tacrolimus Monohydrate [CAS # 109889-09-0]
Tacrolimus (also known as FK-506) is a secondary metabolite isolated from Streptomyces tsukubaensis. It is a non-polar macrolide with immunosuppressant activity and originally developed by Fujisawa. Tacrolimus Monohydrate is used as API for production of its finished dosages including "Prograf" (0.5 mg, 1 mg, 5 mg per capsule) and "Protopic" (0.03% & 0.1% topical ointment).
Physico-Chemical Properties:
Tacrolimus Monohydrate is white or off white crystalline powder, mp 127-129 DC, [a]D23 -84.4 (c = 1.02 in chloroform); Soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, diethyl ether, chloroform; Slightly soluble in petroleum ether, hexane; Not soluble in water.
